It is a deep and narrow gorge along Kerio valley extending 3-4km along the Kerio River. The rock unit here is trachytic with columnar joints.
The ecology of this area include acacia woodland and a lone Marula tree that offers a much needed shade. This is a popular tourist site featuring local gorge divers who thrill the visitors at a small fee.
Local women sell tasty mangoes and papayas grown around river Keiyo. Small scale fishing is also an economic activity taking place in the river. In addition, traditional handcrafts are on sale.
It is considered a peace treaty site for Tugen and Keiyo communities and also marks the physical boundary between Elgeyo Marakwet and Baringo Counties.
