Mangar Rock falls and water springs Mangar is characterised by different rock units (basalt, trachyte, and phonolite) formed between 1.8-0.25 Million years ago. It comprises of large rock boulders deposits, which were formed by seismic activity. Springs flow along a river deeply incised draining to the main Perkerra River.
There is a riverine vegetation dominated by Ficus sycamorus, Tamarindus indica and Acacia melliferra. This is an important source of waterdue to the presence of the springs in the riverbed. The site is along the slave trade trail as evidenced by the presence of Tamarind trees. Culturally, it is considered as sacred site used for prayers, rites of passage (Initiation), part of the Geotrail. Annual goat auction site (Kimalel) is within the vicinity.
