This site is within the Lukeino formation composed of sediments and volcanic tuffs. The site is associated with discovery of the earliest human fossils Orrorin tugenensis (millennium man) dated between 6-7Million years ago.
Fossils of other flora (including petrified trees) and fauna have also been discovered from the site and surrounding areas. There is a community museum gallery located at Kipsaraman, where most of these fossils are exhibited.
