This is a high altitude area located at 2782m above sea level, which provides an observatory for migratory birds (October – March) and an excellent view point of the Elgeyo escarpment. It is adjacent to the Lembus forest, which is a water tower and the source of the Kerio River. The vegetation around Tugumoi area comprises of moorland grasses and epiphytes such as Old man’s beard (Spanish moss).
It is an important area where the local community can foretell seasons based on arrival and departure of migratory birds.
It is a home to Lembus indigenous community and administrative and historic logistic centre for the eastern Equatoria (South Sudan, Uganda and Congo), a fort exists (Eldama Ravine fort). It is the only place in Baringo County with the railway line.
